Q . How long does Ink Resist protection last?

A. Ink Resist lasts for up to 6 months in high wear areas and up to 1 Year on low wear or no wear areas.

Q. Do you have to reapply Ink Resist?

A. Yes, to insure the best protection, re-application is recommended every 6 months on high wear areas and once per year in the low use areas

Q. Will Ink Resist insure I never get ink again?

A. No, Ink Resist is not bulletproof. Ink Resist will protect against roughly 90-95% of all ink. Some ink will go through such as gel pens or markers so if possible, be picky about the pens used on your aircraft. Some ink that is able to cut through the Ink Resist will clean off.

Q. If ink does mark up my leather, is the removal covered under warranty at no charge?

A. While we stand by our product and our customers, there is no way to guarantee an ink mark will not appear.  You will however receive discounted pricing on the repair work.

Q. Will Ink Resist protect against any other common issues such as wine, blue jeans, or newspaper?

A. Ink Resist was formulated to resist marks from pens and other like materials and wasn’t originally designed for this purpose, but it may have additional protective properties to the above.

Q. If my leather or synthetic leather currently has ink marks, is there an additional charge to remove the ink prior to the application?

A. Yes, ink removal and/or cleaning is subject to an additional charge. The charges vary depending on the extent of the marks and/or cleanliness of the leather

Q. If my seats are worn and discolored, are you able to restore the worn leather to like new condition prior to the application?

A. Yes, if the leather is worn or discolored, we will quote you the price to restore your seats to like new condition prior to the application.

Q. Do you offer any discounts for the Ink Resist application?

A. Yes, if the Ink Resist is combined with any leather service, a 20% discount will be applied to the Ink Resist. Discounts are also offered for multiple fleet operators.

Q How long does Ink Resist take to apply? Is there a dry time?

A. The application takes anywhere from 4-8 hours to complete.

 Q. Can I apply Ink Resist myself?

A. Ink Resist is currently a service provided by The Leather Institute. We have not found it to be very customer friendly in the application process and so our highly trained technicians apply it best.

 Q. Where can the Ink Resist be applied? Do I have to fly to you?

A. Ink Resist can be applied anywhere in the world. We do have service operations based in the NY/NJ area as well as South Florida that can complete the application if you are in the area with lead time provided.

 Q. Does Ink Resist have a negative affect on the flame resistant in the leather/synthetic leather?

A. No, Ink Resist has been burn tested and passes all necessary burns.

 Q. What other services does the Leather Institute offer?

A. The Leather Institute offers cleaning, ink removal, repairs, and full color restoration on leather. We also offer onboard carpet cleaning and fabric cleaning services.
